Create a meal plan (detailed)
Build a meal plan from simple foods with specific amounts, ideally starting from the templates in the public library.
Build templates in the library
Start with templates from the public library
- The Public library already contains ready-made detailed plans from 1500–5000 kcal, in steps of 250 kcal.
- To use them with clients, you first need to copy the plans from the public library to your own lists. You can only copy a plan to a client from your own lists.
Build the plan in the plan builder (library mode)
When you create plans directly in the library (not on a client), you get a larger workspace. That makes it perfect for building templates.
You work in a familiar structure:
- The plan consists of meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, evening meal, etc.)
- You can add as many meals as you like
- For each meal you can create several options side by side. The client can later swipe between the options for the same meal
- You name the meals
- You set a target per day and/or per meal for calories and macros (protein, carbohydrates and fat)
Distribution per meal: even or manual?
In a template (e.g. 2000 kcal) you can choose:
- Even distribution (the same for every meal)
- Manual adjustment (a different target for each meal)
An example of manual adjustment: the evening meal can have less fat and fewer calories than dinner.
Hit green on calories and macros
As you build the meals, you try to match their content to the targets:
- The aim is for each meal to land within roughly ±10% of the target for calories and/or macros.
- Prioritise calories and protein first (often the most important), then carbohydrates and fat if you want to be stricter.
How to do it for a client
Create or choose a new detailed plan
Open the client and create a new plan (e.g. “Detailed plan – 2500 kcal”), or copy in one of your templates.
Calculate the client’s daily targets
The targets are calculated in Macro Calculation on the client’s Nutrition page, based on weight, height, and PAL, which you can update manually or collect through a form:
- Choose a goal type, e.g. conservative or aggressive, weight loss or muscle gain
- Protein and fat are calculated from body weight and can be adjusted as needed
- The system calculates a daily target that you copy over to the plan with Copy to daily targets
Choose the distribution per meal
Decide whether to distribute the targets automatically or adjust them manually for each meal.
Build meal options with foods and amounts
- Search for foods (e.g. “oats”) and add them to the meal with the button or by dragging them in
- Enter the amount you want of each food
- Adjust the amounts until you hit green on calories, protein and, if you like, carbohydrates and fat
- If a food is missing, you can add your own foods
Before you publish the plan
The plan is now ready. The client can choose between the options and log their meals, and gets a more precise nutrition strategy as long as they follow the amounts.
